Come one, come all, to celebrate the outdoors and the enchanted trails of Carrabassett Valley. Open to all forms of uphill travel (weather dependent), the MH&T Newton’s Ascent will take racers approximately 5km from the Stratton Brook Trailhead up 580 feet to the Stratton Brook Hut. The ascent from bottom to top will be timed, with racers departing from the trailhead at 11am. Racers may use skis, snowshoes, fat tire bikes, or shoes/spikes. Race categories will be split into three. 1) Bikes 2)Shoes, Snowshoes, Spikes 3)Skis/Boards.
Ascend from the trailhead along the picturesque Narrow Gauge Trail, up the Newton’s Revenge trail and to the summit of the hill, and Stratton Brook Hut. Stick around at the summit for awards, post-race libations, soup and snacks. There is plenty of space outside at the hut to maintain safe social distance. Enjoy views of the Bigelow Range to the north and Sugarloaf to the south at this unique event perched atop 1900′.
Don’t wanna race? That’s ok. Spectators and the public are welcome to come up to the huts for food and libations!
